The Upper West Side is now Bed Stuy Brooklyn. Debozio must be so proud.

The lights of the World Trade Center memorial are a symbol & reminder that New York City & the United States will not back down. Men & Women of this great City rushed into the site on that day & worked tirelessly for months after, until everyone was brought home. These lights will shine this year because we will NEVER FORGET. We strongly urge the powers that be to rescind their decision.

Comment on Facebook

If other types of memorials, protests, and gatherings are allowed to be held without fear of transmitting COVID-19, this memorial should be held on September 11th. You have a choice to go or attend virtually. This memorial needs to be held. Are their lives not as valuable as others?

That Museum received millions of dollars in donations because of 911,Every victim deserves respect NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN

People should gather with flashlights pointed toward the sky!!!! This decision is an outrage!

An a silent disgrace . It’s amazing how many people can gather if it’s something the mayor likes. Really unreal.

This may be the test of our caring instinct, when one or many ,take it upon themselves to acknowledge the respect, gift of time. From the window jumpers to the first responders, the many that tried to outrun the horror literally. No one with a conscience or heart that feels can permit this to happen.

Every victim deserves the respect and honour to be remembered for their ultimate sacrifice to the city, to this country. Light the skies blue on September 11.

Per ABC News, Tunnel to Towers has taken care of it! Both the names AND the lights, now!

Find people who will do the work that are not scared. It’s not difficult to work through any issues if you put aside political agendas

The fact it was even considered to be cancelled is a total slap in the face

Terrible decision Who is responsible for that decision

Now that is an AWESOME PICTURE ! ! !

Channel 7 is saying they are back on

We should all post these pics ourselves on 9/11

So sad Thank you!!!! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

NY State of Mind πŸ’ͺ

πŸ™♥οΈπŸ™πŸ’™πŸ™

SBA supposedly said they're taking it over.

Someone start a petition.

Who do we contact?

We don’t need the powers that be. We will make this happen with the power of the people. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Sergeants Benevolent Association are dedicated to making this happen and we should all support them in this.

Thanks Deblasio and BLM POS

NEW YORK CITY FIREFIGHTERS SLAM CANCELLATION OF 9/11 LIGHT OBSERVANCE

9/11 Survivors Call for Reversal of Decision to Cancel Towers of Light

NEW YORK, NY: FDNY-Uniformed Firefighters Association President Andrew Ansbro released the following statement slamming the decision by the 9/11 Museum to cancel the 9/11 Tribute Lights that have brightened the sky above downtown Manhattan for 18 consecutive years in memorial of the lives lost on September 11, 2001:

β€œNew York City Firefighters stand united in opposition to the cancellation of the annual Towers of Light. The first responders and New Yorkers who have lived through September 11, 2001, and now persevered through the coronavirus pandemic, are feeling betrayed. I haven’t spoken to a single tradesman that isn’t ready and willing to work -- especially, to complete the honor of lighting the sky on the anniversary of the darkest day in American history. These are more than light beams displayed once a year -- they are beams of solace for a still-grieving nation and the literal embodiment of β€˜never forget.’

β€œThe Towers of Light have been, and will always be, a symbol showing that New York City and this country can not be kept down, and will stand strong and proud in the face of any tragedy or disaster. It shines to the heavens as a reminder of those we have lost. There has been no time where this message is more relevant and poignant.

β€œTo remove this display this year, of all years, is an indication that the museum does not understand the value, or the importance, of the sacred duties in which they have been entrusted. These lights are a symbol that brings about raw emotion from all New Yorkers, especially those who lost loved ones and responded that day. I call upon the museum to reverse their decision, or risk becoming a new source of loss as New Yorkers look above to an empty sky as we hope to emerge from these dark times. The Uniformed Firefighters Association is an organization of action and we will not stand by. We are prepared to take action if the decision is not reversed,” said Andrew Ansbro, President, Uniformed Firefighters Association.

Unacceptable. One more part of American History is looking to be changed. We should never allow this to happen. God Bless and honor all of the 9/11 victims, their families and their friends always and forever. Amen πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

They’re an embarrassment and it’s an insult to every person that gave their lives that day!

I just think of all the men & women who lost there lives that day , that have children that graduated from high school or college this year , of all years not to be here with there graduates !! Shame on the decision , how disgraceful !!

I’ll volunteer to put it up! I’ll take my chances. They sacrificed everything, why can’t we?

What the hell does a lite have to do with cancel because of the virus

Its bullshit, if Mask are so great why would this be problem.

Light the lights! Never forget means never forgetting!🀨

You are in our hearts forever no matter πŸ™♥οΈπŸ™

Is this permitted anymore under the current regime in NY. "Never Forgotten"

The decision to cancel the tribute lights was made by the 9/11 Museum and they should be held accountable. Here is a link on their website of people in the position of management at the Museum. Ultimately they made the decision as was said in the above statement. 911memorial.org/about/executive-management

Disgraceful conduct on the part of those responsible for this decision. They allow a stupid meaningless MTV awards show to go on, but cancelled a tribute to people who died in an act of terrorism. 😠 πŸ‚πŸ’©β—

Such a slap in the face to the families who lost loved ones and to our country. Heartbreaking πŸ˜ͺ

This is so sad. They just don’t care πŸ™

Where are the “celebrities “ now???? You cowards

Makes no sense at all. Very sad.

What has happened to " We will never forget". Thank goodness the Tunnel to Towers organization will take over the reading of the names. They have figured out a way to remember those lost while staying safe during this social distancing. If they can do it, the lights can shine also. There are no words that I can post to convey how angry this makes me. This is not acceptable !!

How Dare They!!! Vote Out All Democrats!!!!!!

“Some people did something”. They want u to forget , dirtbags all of them ,Warren Wilhelm and Fredo’s brother!

never forget 9/11 and the 343

Because lights in the sky cause you to catch the rona.......

I’m so pissed at DeBlasio and all NY politicians

I’m hearing reports that it’s going to happen now paid for by someone else

When Deblasio is done screwing with the NYPD. He and the far left will go after FDNY. DONT let him do this.

Somebody forget : NEVER FORGET FDNY 343

What a Disgrace! No reason this can't happen!

A lot of mutual aid. Just heard Westbury go with a ladder.

Don’t leave all of the emergency planning to the grown-ups. Kids can get in on the action, too. Resources like the Ready New York for Kids guide, the β€œBe Ready, Be Safe” coloring book, and the tween β€œChoose Your Own Path to Preparedness” series, bring the lessons home to help the whole family stay safe and prepared.

Check out the guides and other tips to keep kids prepared at on.nyc.gov/ready-kids.

This mornings 2nd Alarm in the Bronx was initiated via ERS box(street call box). 1st call wasnt until 2 min 19 sec in. The ERS box saved 2 min off the response, also the ERS box goes directly to our Fire Dispatchers cutting out the 911 middle-person. In addition, a quick thinking ECC(Engine Company Chaufeur) worked around an illegally parked car. These, minute saving actions, allowed firefighters to get water flowing quickly, keeping the fire contained to the 1 house of origin. Luckily, no one was trapped, but this would also have provided that lifesaving chance if they were. Awesome job by all members that operated & our #FDNY Bronx Fire dispatchersImage attachment

Comment on Facebook

I always hated giving them summons, I always tried to get them towed after the fact so when they come in to get the car, they get hit with the hydrant, and tow fees on top before they leave with the vehicle a lic check could be performed to make sure they are legit to drive and the car is properly register and insured in the proper state.

Great job Bronx dispatch and fire!!! πŸ”₯

Good Job, right threw the window! I have no pity for people who park illegally at fire hydrants endangering the lives of people.

I like it better when the coupling is left a little loose and they come back to 2 smashed windows and a flooded car LOL

They can just call the cops

It also helped that the ERS box was 50ft from the front door and not further away

What is the fine for parking in front of a hydrant? It should be $1000.

Just need a Tower Ladder jack on the hood to finish the job!

The boxes work faster then calling 911 in the first place . You don’t get put on hold . Plant ops holding down the Bronx !

“Ah these moments do try me”

Great job FDNY...πŸš¨πŸš’πŸš”

I do not feel sorry for the car owner. Good job FDNY.

Its always a bmw

I hope they arrested the owner of the car

Heroes...in the face of chaos! β€πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and time keeping us safe. It is truly appreciated

Kudos to that Engine company chauffeur! Great job bro! First round’s on me! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

After the fire was put out. I wish the 5inch would’ve bursted inside the car....

Normal run when I was dispatching !

I’d say they worked “through” it, not “around” 🀣

Give the MPO a medal. I live in the Bronx and cars parked on hydrants is rampant.

BMWs never learn......

F*ck that car up!! Great job FDNY!!

Yes! Through the car!

Todays FDNY Throwback Thursday photo is from October 5, 2019, when the Department hosted its fifth annual citywide Open House event. More than 200 firehouses and EMS stations opened their doors to educate the public about fire and life safety, conduct demonstrations, offer apparatus tours, and share information about careers with the Department. Open House events were first held in 2015 when FDNY celebrated its 150th anniversary. Since then, thousands of New Yorkers throughout all five boroughs have met the members who keep their neighborhoods safe.

Even though we arent spending the summer together in person this year, you can still stay connected with us by visiting fdnysmart.org/connect where youll find #FDNYSmart videos, podcasts, and activities to help keep you and your family safe, no matter where you are. And remember - this photo was taken last fall, but now its important to always wear a mask when in public, and continue to practice social distancing.
